Angelos Antoniou, after a courageous battle with cancer, passed away on Saturday night at the age of 70.
In 1972 he entered the business arena.
In 1974 at the age of 24 he took over the management of Antoniou Georgios Graphic Arts Ltd.
In 1985 he founded ANTOPACK.
In 1989 Angelos Antoniou brought Radio Vera to life and a few months later, in the autumn of 1989, he took the first step towards the television sector by creating TRT.
Angelos Antoniou left his imprint during his 25 years of presidency of the TV station with the channel being close to all events and developments concerning the area.
In the course of its operation, TRT had many distinctions and in 1999, 10 years after the broadcast of the first signal in the television receivers of the Thessaly residents, it was awarded the prize of the best regional television channel within the framework of the civil society institution.
In 1998, after a century of success, Antopack completed its new 14,000-square-meter factory in the industrial zone, making it one of the most advanced printing units in Europe.
The old Germanic factory in the center of Volos and the old facilities of Antopack totaling 30,000 square meters were transformed into a commercial center, the well-known Old City.
He was married to Martina Brungsberg, with whom he had two children, Tea, and George, who succeeded him in business. He was fortunate enough to have 2 grandchildren.
His funeral, upon the deceased’s formerly expressed wish, will be held among family and close friends.
